Job Title: Church Caretaker

Overview:

As a Church Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the church premises. You will be responsible for ensuring that the church facilities are well-maintained to provide a welcoming and conducive environment for worshipers, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cleaning and Maintenance:

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing all areas of the church including worship spaces, hallways, restrooms, and offices.
• Maintain cleanliness of windows, doors, and other surfaces.
• Ensure that each room/site is tidy and furniture properly arranged.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling materials.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed, such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, and repairing minor damages to furniture or fixtures.
• Monitor and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.

1. Groundskeeping:

• Maintain outdoor areas including lawns, gardens, and parking lots by mowing grass, trimming hedges, weeding, and watering plants as necessary.
• Ensure that outdoor signage and lighting are in good working condition.

1. Security:

• Secure the church premises by locking doors and windows at designated times.
• Keep an eye on the church compound, discourage idlers from hanging around aimlessly. Liaise with security personnel to interrogate and politely dismiss unauthorized people.
• Report any suspicious activity or security breaches to church leadership or local authorities.

1. Event Support:

• Set up and arrange furniture, equipment, and decorations for church events, meetings, and gatherings.
• Assist with event logistics such as parking management and crowd control.
• Ensure that facilities are prepared and cleaned before and after events.

1. Supplies Management:

• Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other consumables, and submit purchase requests as needed.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of storage areas for supplies and equipment.

Qualifications:

• Must be born again and willing to align to DCN-K profession of faith
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in janitorial work, facilities maintenance, or groundskeeping is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and minor repair tasks.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Good communication skills to interact with church staff, members, and visitors.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, and kneeling.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate church events and activities.
