OUR CORE BELIEFS

Rooted in the Word

The following are the core beliefs of Deliverance Church Ngong Road based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teachings and ministries are rooted in and flow out of these Biblical doctrines.

The Bible is the authoritative Word of God. It was written by human authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. It bears witness to Jesus Christ, the living Word.

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Unlimited in time, space, knowledge, and power, the Father has planned, for His glory, all that comes to pass and purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself. In His sovereignty, He is neither author nor approver of sin.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. On earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind, and atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory.

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit empowers believers, and His incoming follows the same pattern described in the New Testament. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. Christians should seek to live under His control daily.

Men and women were created in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. They are the supreme object of God’s creation and not from any previously existing form of life. Although every person has potential for good, all are marred by disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God’s kingdom on earth.

Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence.

Marriage and sexual intimacy are wonderful gifts from God to be stewarded for his glory. God’s design for marriage is to be between one man and one woman for life. Biblical marriage requires that both people have biological differences from birth as male and female. Any sexual relationship or activity outside of biblical, covenanted marriage is sinful and is not blessed by God. While marriage is a gift from God, we also believe that singleness can be a gift from God and can be God’s call on a person’s life.

WHO JESUS IS

Five things we believe about Jesus

1. Was resurrected

Without the resurrection there is no faith, no Christianity, no hope. He rose from the dead, appeared to eyewitnesses, and is still at work today through the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 15:14, 20)

2. Saved us by grace

We are not saved by good deeds or by earning our way into Heaven. We are saved by the gracious act of Jesus dying on the cross, rising from the dead, and defeating sin. (Ephesians 2:8–9)

3. Is God

Born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, worked miracles, and gave us an example to follow. Fully God and fully man, He now sits at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. (Colossians 2:9)

4. Told us to love

Love isn't just an emotion — it's an action. If we truly understand the love and grace of Jesus, we will love ALL people. (1 John 4:19–21)

5. Told us to go

Faith isn't just a private emotion. It's a transforming life change that compels us to share it with others. Jesus will do great things through you. (Matthew 28:19–20)
